Balancing too much with not enough or at the wrong time is the growers’ constant juggle

Understanding Water

Efficient Use, Monitoring & Re-use

Water is a critical input for the cane growing process which also causes many of the environmental issues when it leaves the farm. How to make the most of the input and reduce the impact of the output is a key objective of Project Catalyst.

Project Catalyst has focussed on innovations that will improve water management on cane farms with an environmental, social, and economic benefit to the grower whilst helping to protect the GBR. These innovations target the efficient use of water, systems to improve the quality of water flowing from cane farms, and opportunities for water re-use.
